TRC Capital Eyeing Exxon Mobil (XOM); Weatherford Intl (WFT) Inks JV Mega-deal with Schlumberger (SLB)


TRC Capital Corp. has made an unsolicited mini-tender offer for shares of Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE:XOM).

Exxon Mobil said after the closing-bell Friday that the investment firm wants to buy up to 2 million of its shares at $78.00 each. The oil and gas giant company is recommending to its shareholders that they reject TRC Capital’s below-market offer.

XOM stock finished the regular session in negative territory by 0.77% (or -$0.63) at $81.23 with a total volume of 9.13M shares traded during the day.

Exxon Mobil, which is engaged in energy business, has 4.15B shares outstanding, market capitalization (intraday) of $336.82B and XOM stock 52-week range is between $80.31 and $95.55 per share.



Shares of Weatherford International plc (NYSE:WFT) surged more than 5% in the extended session Friday after the company said that it has reached a deal with oilfield services giant Schlumberger Ltd. (NYSE:SLB) to form a Joint Venture called OneStim(SM), targeting development of unconventional resource plays in North America.

As part of the deal between the companies to create the hydraulic horsepower and multistage completions technologies JV, Schlumberger will have 70% ownership of OneStim and will pay $535 million in cash to Weatherford.

WFT stock closed at $5.89, up $0.02 (or +0.34%) and 19.00M of its shares changed hands during the day.

Weatherford International, which operates as a multinational oilfield service company worldwide, has 983.39M shares outstanding, market capitalization (intraday) of $5.79B and WFT stock one-year range is from $3.73 to $8.49 per share.
