Key Biotechnology Risers and Fallers at NASDAQ – (MITI, OXGN, GERN, STEM, AMGN, MNKD, MNTA, SPPI, BPAX, DNDN, ITMN)

(NASDAQ:MITI) for the amount of $1.16 billion, faced a drop after announcing lower-than-estimated profit for the fourth quarter because of a decline in its anemia drugs sales while Micromet shares led biotechnology stocks on this decision as soared 32.13% to $10.94.

Other major biotechnology NASDAQ gainers with over 1 million trading shares in last session were OXiGENE, Inc. (NASDAQ:OXGN) up 24.53%, Geron Corporation (NASDAQ:GERN) rose 19.54%, StemCells, Inc. (NASDAQ:STEM) increased 12.81% and MannKind Corporation (NASDAQ:MNKD) climbed 10.36%.

On the flip side, Momenta Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:MNTA) dropped 20% to $15.13 to suffer the top decline in the Russell 2000 Index, Spectrum Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPPI) fell 6.27%, BioSante Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:BPAX) moved down 4.41%, Dendreon Corporation (NASDAQ:DNDN) decreased 3.13% and InterMune, Inc. (NASDAQ:ITMN) reduced 3.07%.

Amgen, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMGN) kicked off the last session at an opening price of $69.19 and gained as much as to reach $69.19 but later by the trade end stock declined 1.63% to $68.08.

On the other hand, its trade volume of 7.04 million shares was slightly lower than average trading capacity of 7.05 million shares. The company’s week performance emerged as -1.53%, 1 year performance moved at +20.54%, and year-to-date performance appeared positive with +6.03% while a month-performance after last trade close went up at +6.89%.
