Positive Earnings Send Microsoft at its Highest Level in Two Years – NASDAQ:MSFT

stocks-37Microsoft Corp. shares climbed to their peak level in nearly two years Friday as investors reacted optimistically to the software giant’s quarterly results, yet analysts still warned regarding upcoming business because of anticipated weakness in the PC market.

Microsoft added $1.59 per share to $29.71 and climbed their highest level at $29.74 since May 2010. The stock’s rise came following Microsoft, on Thursday, announced a fiscal second-quarter profit of $6.62 billion, or 78 cents per share, on $20.89 billion in sales for the quarter closed December 31. During the year-earlier period, Microsoft made $6.63 billion or 77 cents a share in earning on sales of $19.95 billion.

Analysts polled by FactSet Research had forecast Microsoft to made 76 cents per share in earnings on $20.9 billion in sales.

Strength in Microsoft’s business unit and sales of Xbox videogame consoles and other entertainment products assisted the company offset against a 6% drop in revenue from sales of Windows OS. The company predicted that sales of PC divisions dropped between 2% and 4% in the previous quarter of 2011.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)began the trading session with a price of $28.82 and throughout the session climbed at a high of $29.74 but when day-trade ended the stock finally advanced 5.65% to $29.71.

MSFT had a trade volume of 165.90 million shares was higher as compared to average trading capacity of 55.22 million shares.

The stock is ahead its 52 week low with 27.38% and going forward from its 52 week high price with 3.54%. MSFT last month stock price volatility remained 1.69%. In its share capital MSFT has 8.41 billion outstanding shares among them 7.53 billion shares have been floated in market exchange. MSFT stock institutional ownership remained 65.52% while insider ownership included 6.26%.

Shares price of MSFT moved down from its 20 days moving average with 9.71% and remote negatively from 50 days moving average with 13.35%. MSFT current year earnings per share experienced an addition with 28.20% while its current quarter performance remained 10.32%. Company’s beta coefficient included 0.99. Beta factors measures the amount of market risk associated with market trade.
